21 foreign world-class runners to compete in 2010 Xiamen Marathon
According to the Xiamen Sports Bureau, a total of 21 excellent marathon athletes from overseas will take part in the 2010 Xiamen International Marathon. They will arrive in Xiamen on the 30th or 31th.
The specially invited foreign marathon athletes of this year include the first runner-up and second runner-up of the 2009 Paris Marathon, and also the champion of the 2009 Xiamen International Marathon.
Among the 21 foreign marathon runners, 9 come from Ethiopia, 6 from Kenya, 2 from Russia, 2 from South Africa, 1 from France and 1 from Moldova.
Compared with the previous marathons, foreign marathon athletes of this year are younger than before. 13 of them were born after 1980 and the Ethiopic runner Bazu Worka who won second place in the Paris Marathon, is only 19 years old.
