Study options abound as potential students set sights abroad
Potential overseas students are adding the finishing touches to their educational transcripts and resumes in preparation for the 15th China International Education Exhibition Tour (CIEET) that opens tomorrow in Beijing before traveling to Chongqing, Shanghai, Qingdao and Guangzhou.
Organized by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange at the Ministry of Education, the two-week tour has gathered more than 400 colleges and higher educational institutions from 33 countries to take part in the annual event, including 29 institutions of both academic and vocational education from Australia, 70 universities from the UK and 28 colleges from France.
A delegation from the European Union to China will present a selection of educational resources to potential students, alongside 15 institutions from Hong Kong and event newcomers, Mexico.
Information services will be provided and a series of activities to help students select an appropriate school, including application processes, occupational planning and guidance counseling, will be on hand.
Beginning in March 1999, more than 1,500 institutions have taken part in the annual event since its inception, drawing a total of 1 million visitors in more than 20 Chinese cities.
Today the two-day 2010 Chinese Overseas Study Forum will also begin in Beijing with the theme of "Cross boundary movements of students and excellent educational resources."
Government officials, embassy delegations, educational experts and representatives from colleges will discuss the changes and trends in world education, Chinese-foreign cooperation and methods in deepening educational exchanges.
