Transtlate On November 27 meeting on the statistics of thesis on science and technology was held in Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China(ISTIC) at the Beijing International Convention Center. During the meeting, the statistics of the total number of theses and the times those theses are cited in 2008 are announced.
In 2008, 6,332 theses from HUST were published, which ranked 2nd among all the universities. There were 1,664 theses published in SCI which ranked 7th and 1,497 theses published in ISTP which ranked 3rd, and the number of citation times (20,121 times) ranked 4th that year. The number 20,121 represents the times theses cited in 2008 which are published during 1988 to 2007.Moreover, 1,377 theses of Science Citation Index was quoted 3,567 times (the theses published from 2003 to 2007 according to SCI Database ) ranking 14th in China’s institutions of higher education.
According to the survey by ISTIC, compared with the year of 2007, 2008 witnessed substantial increase in the number of published theses.
