2008/2009 China’s Top Ten Business Cases Were Disclosed
Recently, the results of 2008/2009 China’s top ten business cases, hosted by Institute of Chinese Enterprises Development, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, were disclosed. From the over 700 cases sent for evaluation, ten business cases originated from the mainstream financial media finally stood out, and received the honor of “08/09 China’s top ten business cases for the year”. On January 17, 2010, “2008/2009 China’s Top Ten Business Cases Award Ceremony & Keynote Forum” was grandly held in Antai College of Economics & Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
The best business cases of this year include: BYD–New Energy Future, Spring Airlines–Civilian Economics boosting profits in a sluggish market, Geely DSI acquisition–increasing position of strategic transformation, the private investment firm, China Oceanwide Holdings Group bought Lenovo parent stake, Sany Heavy Industry Limited Company–technical barriers are paper tigers, Sanyuan–acquisition of Sanlu created the magnificent changes of Sanyuan; Yili–the steady is the winner; Goodbady–growing up under the crisis, Changyu–international strategy at full speed in post-crisis era; China Merchants Bank–how to play the “celebrity card”? On the ceremony, Professor He zhiyi, the vice dean of Antai College of Economics and Management, Executive Dean of Institute of Chinese Enterprises Development at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, on behalf of the organizer, presented the awards to the enterprises.
For the three decades of reform and opening up, China’s enterprises have accumulated rich experiment in management practices. Based on the valuable experience, Instituteof Chinese Enterprises Developmentorganized this selection event to promote the enterprise management philosophy and practice progress. This not only pays tribute and recognition to the contribution made by China’s enterprises in management innovation, but also aims to set the most effective “learning model” for China’s enterprises. Since September 1, 2009, through a series of complicated, careful and scientific preliminary evaluation process, over 20 business cases entered the finalists. Thereafter, the re-evaluation team composed of the business school deans and well-known media workers assessed these 20 cases. The selection criteria include: being informative and objective; having the clear decision-making points; profundity of the analysis; Chinese characteristics of the theme; and timeliness of the case, etc. Meanwhile, the internet selection system started in the NetEase Web site. With the combination of expert review and the internet selection, the top ten business cases finally came to the fore.
