Prof. Lester Monts, Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs of University of Michigan, Visits RUC
RUC Vice President Prof. Chen Yulu met with Prof. Lester Monts, Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs of University of Michigan (UM), and his delegation on Dec.13th, 2009. The accompanying visitors included Prof. Joseph Lam, Dean of UM Confucius Institute, Prof. Yan Ciqing, International Research and Development Director of the UM Health Management Research Center, and Ms. Jen Zhu, Chinese Program Coordinator.
During the meeting, Prof. Monts highly praised the performance of folk troupe of RUC Youth Chinese Orchestra in UM in November 2009, and hoped to deepen bilateral cooperation with music as a starting point based on the newly established UM Confucius Institute. Prof. Chen quite agreed with his proposal and would like to further promote bilateral substantial cooperation.
Later, both sides watched the rehearsal by the folk troupe of RUC Youth Chinese Orchestra together. Prof. Monts praised the students for their wonderful performance and gladly conducted a piece of traditional Chinese music named “Nao Chun” impromptu.
Representatives from RUC International Office and the University Youth League also attended the meeting.
