School of Chinese Classics Visits European Top University
From Jan. 6th to 16th, 2010, a delegation of RUC School of Chinese Classics, including Senior Deputy Dean Prof. Huang Pumin, Deputy Dean Prof. Xu Fei, etc. visited University of Manchester (School of Arts, Histories and Cultures), University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies), Institut des Hautes Études Chinoises of College of France, University of Bonn, University of Cologne and University of Munich. RUC delegation and the universities have had comprehensive and productive discussions over future exchanges and co-operations.
As one of the most famous and oldest universities in UK, the University of Manchester has many Chinese studies research departments such as School of Arts, Histories and Cultures, Centre for Chinese Studies, School of Languages, and so forth. Both sides decided to conduct further co-operations on students’ degree programs, professors’ joint research, joint academic conferences, and information sharing, which would be carried out as soon as possible.
The Institut des Hautes Études Chinoises of College of France (recently renamed as Oriental Studies Institute) and RUC held common and positive views towards expanding future co-operations on student cultivation, research programs, etc.
As one of the most renowned institutes for Chinese studies in the world, School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London would like to co-organize a three-year Graduate Class of Chinese Studies with the schedule of enrolling graduate students in China, training students in Beijing for the first two years and a third year in London, and granting certificates of both universities when graduation.
University of Bonn is famous for its oriental studies throughout the world. Both sides exchanged views on faculty and staff, academic research and student cultivation, and reached an intention on student exchanges for academic communication.
