May 9- The 3rd Discipline Construction and Postgraduate Education Conference at GDUFS was held in the north campus on the afternoon of May 6th. Yang Jun from the Degree Office of Guangdong Province, Secretary of Party Committee GDUFS Sui Guangjun, President of GDUFS Zhong Weihe as well as members from other branches attended the conference. Chen Jianping hosted the event.
The theme of this year's conference revolved around issues like enhancing faculty competitiveness and improving postgraduates' creativity. Chen Jianping pointed out that postgraduate education was the leading role of higher education development and universities in Guangdong Province have shown lots of progress. However, he continued lack of high-level subjects and problems with were the main problems of postgraduate education in Guangdong Province.
According to the current situation in GDUFS, President Zhong Weihe put forward three theories. The first states that we should be clearly aware of the path the future needs to take (importance and urgency of discipline construction and postgraduate education). After second says that it is important to focus on improving the level of the disciplines and postgraduate education and finally, that effort should be applied to problems areas.
Based on Zhong Weihe's theories, Vice-President Shi Youqi gave a speech about postgraduate education in GDUFS, what challenges and opportunities we confront and what we should do in the future.
At the end of the conference, Zeng Yongqiang, the Director of the Postgraduate Office GDUFS stated his new expectations on construction, and organization of the disciplines at GDUFS. He also emphasized that except for the advantage of foreign languages in our university, we should also accelerate the pace at which other academic fields are developed, such as economics, management, education and art.
During the conference, directors from various departments also delivered speeches of their own.
