Professor Richard Henry and Vice President of New South Wales Visit to STJU
On the morning of May 18, the delegation led by Professor Richard Henry, executive vice president of the University of New South Wales (Australia) visited SJTU. Professor Su Ming, executive deputy secretary, met with the guests, and presided over Memorandum Signing Ceremony between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of New South Wales (UNSW). The UNSW Confucius Institute was built based on the partnership between UNSW and SJTU. Both sides hope to deepen the existing cooperation by using the opportunity of co-building a Confucius Institute. The signing of memorandum this time serves as a framework for further cooperation between two universities. SJTU will carry out comprehensive and multi-level cooperation with UNSW in the fields of scientific research, teacher exchange visits, and talent training, etc.
On the morning, Professor Richard Henry and Professor James Donald, Dean of UNSW Confucius Institute also participated in the second Council of the Confucius Institute. On the afternoon, guests from UNSW visited School of Medicine at SJTU, and had a cordial and friendly talk with Professor Chen Hongzhuan, Associate Dean of School of Medicine on Chongqing Road Campus to discuss potential cooperation fruitfully. Afterwards, they visited Shanghai Children’s Medical Center Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.
Jin Wei, Chief of Division of SJTU International Cooperation and Exchange, Mo Liangjin, deputy director of Office of Academic Affairs, and Xu Min, vice dean of School of International Education, etc. attended the meeting on Minhang Campus. Since the founding of UNSW Confucius Institute, the two universities have had close visits by individuals. And SJTU has sent dean on Chinese side to UNSW Confucius Institute. In July this year, UNSW will organize nearly 60 students to participate in the summer camp organized by School of International Education and Koguan Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
