Delegation of Canada-China CCLA Visits RUC

On April 9th, Mr. Joseph Day, Senator, Co-Chair of Canada-China Legislative Association (CCLA) and Chair of Senate Standing Committee on National Finance, and his delegation visited RUC. The accompanying visitors included Mr. Daryl Kramp, Co-Chair of CCLA and Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance, Canadian House of Commons, Ms. Elizabeth Kingston, Executive Secretary of CCLA, and Mr. Louis-Martin Aumais, First secretary and Vice-Consul of Canadian Embassy in China.

Prof. Wang Liming, Vice-Chairman of RUC University Council, and the CCLA delegation had a discussion with over 20 student representatives from the School of Environment and Natural Resources, School of Finance, School of Law, School of International Studies and School of Economics on such hot topics as global climate change issues, energy conservation and pollution reduction and so on.
 
Later, RUC President Ji Baocheng met with the delegation. Prof. Ji Baocheng introduced RUC’s development in academic research and international exchanges. He pointed out that China and Canada had a log history of cooperation in higher education and expected more fruitful exchanges and collaborations between the two countries in the future.
Mr. Day and Mr. Kramp expressed their appreciation for President Ji Baocheng’s warm welcome and congratulated RUC for her accomplishment in achieving the grand strategy of improving internationality in the recent years. They said that CCLA is a good friend of China and hoped RUC could do more in the cause of international exchanges and the cultivation of more young talents with global perspective.
 
Representatives from the Foreign Affairs Committee of National People’s Congress and Prof. Tang Zhong, Director of RUC International Office, also attended the meeting.
