President Wang Meets with Botswana Ambassador
President Wang Chongju and Vice President Gou Chaoli met with Ms. Naomi Ellen Majinda, Ambassador of Botswana to China, and Ms. Lapologang Mokomane, Second Secretary on June 10th. Present were Liu Qin, Director of Office of Party and Administration Affairs, Zhang Yi, Deputy Director of OPPA, Zhou Qian, Deputy Director of International Cooperation & Exchange Office of CTBU.
Firstly, the guests had a campus tour in the company of President Wang and VP Gou. They were deeply impressed by the advanced distance learning facilities and beautiful campus landscape.
Then, Ms. Majinda delivered a speech entitled “Botswana, A Land of Opportunities” in the lecture hall to about 300 CTBU students, which was hosted by Vice President Gou and addressed by President Wang. In the speech, Ms. Majinda made a brief introduction to Botswana and specially pointed out that Botswana was a beautiful country full of investment and business opportunites. The audience showed great interest to ambassador’s speech and raised questions about the bilateral relationship between China and Botswana and economic development of the country.
Bostwana, an inland country in south Africa is a model country with political stability, fast economic development and excellent ecological environment. Chongqing municipal government has been seeking cooperative relationship with Bostwana. This year, Chongqing will establish sister city relationship with Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana.
Ms. Majinda graduated from the Bostwana University majoring in administration and sociology. She is now ambassador of Botswana to China, North Korea, South Korea, Singapore and Pakistan. This is the first time for Ms. Majinda to visit Chongqing, which will promote the friendship between CTBU and Bostwana University. To follow up her visit, a delegation from Bostwana university will visit CTBU in July.
