Director of SJTU University Council Met with Alumni in Canada

Transtlate On June 13, 2010, Ma Dexiu, Director of SJTU University Council, who was paying a visit to Canada, met with Jiao Tong University alumni in Toronto. Present at the meeting were the current Chairman of Jiao Tong University Alumni Association Canada, professor Liu Hongtao, former Chairwoman Ma Kaigui, 94-year-old former Chairman Mr. Shen Jiaying who graduated in 1937 and others, altogether over 40 alumni of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi’an Jiao Tong University, Beijing Jiao Tong University, Southeast Jiao Tong University and National Chiao Tung University.
With the warm welcome and enthusiastic applause from the alumni, Director Ma Dexiu introduced the present excellent situation of the domestic development as well as the development prospects and situation of SJTU in recent years, which had attracted great interest from alumni. Afterwards, Director Ma had an extensive discussion with alumni, listened to their suggestions for the university development, and got to know their learning experience in Jiao Tong University and current working and living situation in Canada.
Director Ma Dexiu emphasized that alumni, as the most valuable asset for the university, should take the opportunity to revisit their alma mater and make more contributions to the society and the alma mater. Director Ma Dexiu gave the introduction album, video discs and souvenirs of SJTU to alumni as a gift. The alumni presented souvenir to Secretary Ma in return. Finally, Director Ma Dexiu and alumni had a group photo taken to mark the occasion.
