Zongzi-making Competition for Interntional Students Held Successfully
Zongzi-making (glutinous rice dumplings) Competition for international students on the celebration of Chinese Dragon Boat Festival was held successfully on June 11th. International students at CTBU, some Chinese teachers and international students assistants took part in the activity.
The competition was aimed at familiarizing international students with Chinese traditional culture and promoting friendship among international and Chinese students. Firstly a video about the festival was presented and then the host and hostess introduced the history and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival bilingually to the participants. Then came the Zongzi-making competition. All the foreign students were divided into 4 groups and each group would compete in the speed of making zongzi and shape and taste of their products. After this session, each group answered questions about Dragon Festival in Chinese. Finally, according to the performance of the participants and evaluation of the Chinese audience, the group with students from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam won the first prize.
All the participants had great fun in the activity and the international students had a deep understanding of the culture and tradition of this Chinese festival.
