State Councilor Liu Met with President Coleman of Michigan University

Transtlate Accompanied by Vice Minister Hao Ping of Ministry of Education and Secretary Ma Dexiu of SJTU, State Councilor Liu Yandong met with the visiting delegation led by President Mary Sue Coleman of University of Michigan in Zhongnanhai.
Liu Yandong gave a positive comment on the “Michigan-China University Leadership Forum”co-developed by University of Michigan and Ministry of Education of China. He also spoke highly of the achievements made by UM-SJTU Joint Institute and its exemplary role. Liu Yandong introduced recent cultural communications and discussions between China and America to the guests and expressed his wish that University of Michigan could cooperate with universities in China in a wider range of realms to deepen the mutual understanding and friendship among young talents in both countries and make contributions to the sustainable and stable development of the relationship between China and the US. President Coleman provided suggestions toward State Councilor Liu Yandong that both parties should step up efforts in research cooperation and spread the benefits resulting from cooperation to more universities in China, which were affirmed and supported by State Councilor Liu Yandong.
In recent years, the cooperation between SJTU and University of Michigan has been continuously strengthened and noticeable achievements have been made. The visiting of President Coleman will exert great influence upon the cooperation between the two universities.
