"Quality Project" Motivates Innovation in Zhejiang University Students
From sweeping robot to automatic blackboard-erasing device, to multi-functional care bed and storey-climbing robot, inventions of Zhejiang University undergraduates are innovative and refreshing. Many students get 4 patents upon graduation. All these should be attributed to the implementation of “Quality Project”.
In 2006, Zhejiang University became one of the first universities with “National College Students Innovation Experiment Program”. In 4 years, the program has approved 256 projects proposed by undergraduates, benefiting all students while promoting the quality of undergraduate teaching.
Vice President Lai Maode commented, “National College Students Innovation Experiment Program is set up by the Ministry of Education as an important component of national teaching reform. It’s meant to promote students’ understand of research and their innovation and capability.”
National and provincial key bases and engineering centers are open to students for free as the platform of the implementation of the program. Personnel are also ready to provide tutoring and guidance for students.
