Culture Exchange between Zambia and China

October 24 is Independence Day in Zambia. In order to allow teachers in the Confucius Institute to fully understand Zambia, enhance mutual understanding, promote cooperation and exchanges, the Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia (UNZA) invited chief-accountant, Mr. Norman, some staff and postgraduates at UNZA to introduce Zambian history, culture and customs on October 22. Confucius Institute’s teachers and some guests from Chinese-funded Institutes attended the event.

The event started at 3:00 pm. First, Mr. Norman explained the history of Zambia, ranging from British Colonial rule to the first president, Mr. Kaunda, then to today’s fifth president, Mr. Sata. His illustration made us have a deeper understanding of the history and cultural practices of Zambia, a country in southern Africa.

In the fast-paced and melodic Zambian music, everyone was very pleasant with the conversation while tasting the delicious traditional Zambia food, Chikanda、Nshaba,、Tute and Maheu etc.

On the morning October 24, teachers in the Confucius Institute took part in the celebration on Independence Road in the town, feeling Zambian people’s love and passion for freedom and independence, and being aware that people from different countries have common feelings of loving their country, willing to work for its prosperity!
