April 8, 2011, Confucius Institute at University of Zambia (UNZA) and Xinhua News Agency Lusaka Bureau in Zambia jointly organized the "Africans in China" photo exhibition in the front of the library at UNZA. Registrar of the University of Zambia,Dr.A.N.Ng'andu, Acting Head of School of Humanities and Social Sciences Department of Mass Communication,Ms.Josephine Mapoma, Xinhua news agency lusaka bureau chief, Mr.MU Dong and Chinese Director of Confucius Institute Ms. He Yi respectively delivered speech at the opening ceremony. He Yi fully described the Confucius Institute project in her speech. Deputy Director of Library, Xinhua News Agecny Correspondent, Mr. Meng Jing, Chinese teachers, Chen Ying and Niu Xiquan, students in Confucius Institute Chinese-funded institutions officers and foreign friends, attended the opening ceremony; more than 2,000 students and faculty visited the exhibition.
The theme of this exhibition is "Africans in China", which shows Africans' study, work, research, business, tourism and other activities in China, reflecting the mutual learning, friendly coexistence and common development between China and African people. Confucius Institute at UNZA displayed photos of Hanban "round three" activities, which attracted many students and teachers. They are very interested in the Confucius Institute's teaching and activities, eager to understand China. They, with the hope of studying and visiting china, inquired the issues about HSK Test and scholarship etc. He Yi, Chen Ying and Niu Xiquan answered students' questions. Many Chinese students registered for the course on the spot.
The exhibition deepened the students and staff understands for Confucius Institutes teaching and activities, enhancing friendship. Reporters in UNZA RADIO interviewed Mr. Mudong, Ms. He Yi and students in Confucius Institute. For effective publicity, Xinhua News Agency Lusaka Bureau also broadcast the news timely.
