Chinese Speech Contest Held in UT Dallas
The Northern Texas Chinese Speech Contest was held in UT Dallas on April 30, 2011. Nearly 150 primary and secondary school students participated in the competition. Both American and American-Chinese students competed fiercely in the same stage.
The contest started at 1:00 in the afternoon. The contestants from kindergarten kids to high school students were divided into 9 groups. Students in each group competed for the first, second, third, and honorable mention prizes respectively. The Prize-Awarding Ceremony was held in the Auditorium Hall. Almost 400 students, teachers and parents gathered in the hall. This is not only a Chinese speech contest event, but also a communication platform for the students and parents.
This large Chinese speech contest was jointly organized by Dallas Modern Chinese School and the Confucius Institute at UT Dallas. The Consulate-General of China in Houston supported the contest. Ms. Gao Yanping, the Consul General, gave a congratulation letter to the competition. She encouraged the students to learn Chinese language well and to understand China in order to cultivate the flower and fruit of Sino-American friendship.
