Tour Training Classes for Chinese Paper-cutting Arts by Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University

At the paper-cutting class at Krakow Confucius Institute
From May 21 to May 27, 2011, a tour training classes for Chinese paper-cutting arts in Poznan, Wroclaw, Opole and Krakow by Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University in Poland were heatedly welcomed.
There were 10 Chinese paper-cutting arts training classes for local Confucius Institute students, university students of Chinese studies, high school and primary school students, kids from kindergartens and other people in Poznan Confucius Institute, Wroclaw Confucius Institute, Opole Confucius Institute and Krakow Confucius Institute, with over 400 participants. The Confucius Institutes in the four cities stressed the tour training classes, and Polish and Chinese directors of the Confucius Institutes prepared and arranged the training classes personally for the successfulness of the events. And many directors of the Confucius Institutes took part in the training classes themselves with great enthusiasm.

Miss Joanna Hiller, Polish teacher of Chinese from Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University, and Mrs. Li Wen, Chinese teacher of paper cutting, jointly hosted the tour training classes.
At the paper-cutting classes, first sample paper-cutting works of various kinks were presented to students, and then Miss Joanna Hiller gave an illustration in detail with the aid of Power Point. The two teachers responded with great patience to varieties of questions from the students.
All the participants of the training classes, university students or kinds from kindergartens, showed unexpectedly great enthusiasm on Chinese paper-cutting arts. The teachers of the training classes were very much surprised at the seriousness and absorbency by the students. Mrs. Li Wen was touched, so much so that she said she never though Polish friends would love Chinese paper-cutting arts so much, and she was much moved by their serious attitude towards learning paper cutting.
The students had a good mastery of Chinese paper-cutting skills, and learned to do paper cutting with scissors and carving knives. They said they had never imagined such delicate Chinese paper-cutting art-crafts and they were really fascinated by the art-crafts. They also said they would teach their families, their children and their fiends with what they learned about Chinese paper-cutting arts. They hoped that there would be more occasions to introduce Chinese traditional cultures to them by Confucius Institute.

The tour training classes for Chinese paper-cutting arts by Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University is one of the activities to practice co-sharing the common cultural resources among Confucius Institutes, and there will be more such activities for sharing the common cultural resources among Confucius Institutes, which is of great importance to enhance the agreement and cooperation between Confucius Institutes, to rich the activities by Confucius Institutes, to promote cultural exchanges between nations, to spread wide Chinese culture, and to develop Confucius Institutes faster and more healthily.
