Delegation of Chicago University Visits RUC

RUC Vice-President Prof. Chen Yulu met with Prof. David Greene, Vice-President of Chicago University and his delegation on Sept. 29th,2009. Members of the Chicago University delegation were Prof. Yang Dali of Political Science, Director of the Center for East Asian Studies, Prof. Beth Bader, Managing Director of the Executive MBA Program in Asia for the Booth School of Business, and Prof. Eileen McCarthy, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Planning and Office of the President.

During the meeting, Prof. Chen Yulu introduced the basic information of Renmin University and its achievements at the beginning of this year in the National Academic Ranking officially issued by the Ministry of Education. Prof. Chen said that the establishment of University of Chicago Center (UC Center) at the Cultural and Scientific Park of RUC was an opportunity for the two universities to further develop intercollegiate and teacher-student exchanges and collaborative research.

Prof. Greene extended his congratulations to RUC on its remarkable achievements in the field of humanities and social sciences, and expressed his agreement to Prof. Chen’s suggestions on mutual cooperation. Besides, Prof. Greene discussed with some Directors in detail about different modules of exchange program, accommodation and campus life of oversea students and other issues, and said that he planned to take UC Center as a platform to send teachers and students to Renmin University.

The two universities exchanged their views on cooperation in setting up a Confucius Institute and related issues.

Prof. Tang Zhong, Director of RUC International Office, Ms. Peng Yi, Executive Manager of Shiji Corp. Group and representatives of RUC School of Business, School of Literary Studies, and Logistics Group also attended the meeting.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Cultural and Scientific Park, and further discussed related details on establishment of UC Center.
