Indonesian Overseas Students from FALC Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival
October 14 - On the night of the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, which this year fell on October 3rd, GDUFS students who are now studying in Yogyakarta, Indonesia gathered at the Gadjah Mada University to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
These students were in their second year of FALC (Faculty of Asian Language and Culture) and as part of the program, were on a half-year exchange program to Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia for language and culture studies.
All the students gathered at seven sharp that night. Monitor Hu Hongzhu began the celebration with a greeting speech, in which he expressed heartfelt thanks to foreign teacher Pak Harsono and Senior Hu Anqi for their help. He also extended his sincere wish that the students would be able to grow from the experience.
In his speech, Mr. Pak noted that his experience as a teacher in GDUFS Indonesian-Malay Program had been quite unforgettable. He encouraged the students to seize this opportunity of overseas education to accomplish and improve in different ways then they would at home. Following his speech, Hu Anqi added that she hoped all the students would treasure their time and try to keep their minds and hearts open.
Afterwards, all the participants dined together, during which Mr. Pak took the time to talk and offer suggestions to the students.
Though it was the first Mid-Autumn festival they celebrated in a faraway country without their parents, a number of students said they still felt lucky to be with their classmates. Nevertheless, as with all students who leave their country for the first time, they still missed home.
