GDUFS Girl Golfers Win Two Gold Medals
Two GDUFS students participated in the Shandong Gold Cup national team competition held from October 20 to 24 and won two gold medals for Guangdong team.
Zhang Yuyang, from the School of Politics and Public Administration GDUFS, and Li Jiayun, a student in the Faculty of English Language and Culture GDUFS, returned with glory. In the final round, Zhang Yuyang, who shot 73 strokes which was the overall best play of a single round, had helped Guangdong Team to win the group championship. While Zhang Lijia, captain of the national team, achieved 299 strokes in total, undoubtedly clinched the title of individual champion.
The event, held at the Shandong Gold Rock River Golf Club in Jinan from October 20 to October 24 with 20 men's and 17 women's teams from 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities taking part, is the first official golf competition sanctioned by the China State General Administration of Sport since the International Olympic Committee made the game a medal event at the 2016 and 2020 Games. It is regarded as part of the preparation before golf officially comes as an event of the next Olympic Games.
