Professor Zhou Lin Was Elected Fellow of World Econometric Society


The recent news came that Zhou Lin, professor of ShanghaiJiaoTongUniversitywas elected World Econometric Society Fellow, and became the first person from Mainland Chinato get such an honor.

The World Econometric Society is internationally renowned academic organization for economics, and its fellows virtually include all the world-famous economists at the present time. Roger Myerson, the winner of 2007 Nobel Economics Prize is the present president of the Society. The Society annually elect 20 new fellows by anonymous ballot. The total number of its fellows in the world reaches 655, including eight Chinese, such as Zou Zhizhuang, Liu Zunyi and other senior scholars. Two years ago, Professor Chen Xiaohong of YaleUniversitybecame the first Chinese scholar who was studying in the United Statesto obtain this honor. This year, besides Professor Zhou Lin, Professor Hong Han of StanfordUniversityalso received the honor.

Zhou Lin now is the Vice Dean of Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance and Dean of College of Economics, ShanghaiJiaoTongUniversity. His research interest includes micro-economics, mechanism design, and game theory, etc. His winning of election represents that the progress made by domestic colleges and universities has being winning recognition from the international academic community. Moreover, as happy news, it is greeted in the process for SJTU to become the world-class university. The World Econometric Society holds the World Econometrics Conference every five years. It is the academic conference with the highest level and the greatest influence in the economics field. The 2010 Conference will be held at SJTU.
