Delegations From Rits and FJU Visit GDUFS
November 22 - On the morning of November 16th, Comprehensive Planning Department Minister Sawada Isao of Ritsumeikan University came to visit GDUFS. Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of GDUFS, Xu Guobin, welcomed them in the North Campus's guest hall. Deputy Director of International Exchange Office Liang Jie and Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures were also in attendance.
Mr. Xu gave the delegation a warm welcome. He first summarized the development of Japanese Language profession and cooperation with Japanese universities. He stated that much support has been provided from Japanese government and universities, and thanks to that support, GDUFS was able to send quite a few students to Japan for short term exchange studies. He also introduced the internationalized teaching and training mode "foreign language plus profession" at GDUFS, expecting more cooperation in students exchange and short term studies. Meanwhile, Xu hoped this student program could extend to non - Japanese majors, thus, to provide more students with the opportunity to study abroad.
Mr. Sawada thanked Mr. Xu for the warm reception. He said that they would maintain a good relationship with GUDFS and hoped more students could benefit from exchange programs. He put forward the tentative idea of establishing an Affairs Department in Guangzhou and the plan of cooperation on projects, like summer camps, winter camps and "2 plus 2" academic structure.
They were not the only recent visitors to GDUFS. On the morning of November 16th, Foreign Language Faculty Dean Huang Menglan, Institute of Translation Studies Director Yang Chengshu and other eight guests from Fu Jen Catholic University paid a visit to GDUFS. Director Jiao Fangtai of Office of HK, Macao and Taiwan Affairs as well as deans and directors from relative departments met in Conference Room II of North Campus. On the night of November 15th, GDUFS Vice President Zhong Weihe, met with the delegation and expressed strong support and expectation to the forthcoming full - round cooperation.
Director Jiang introduced the general cooperation with Taiwan universities, including exchange projects and cooperation forums with I-Shou University, Providence University and Ling Tung University.
Dean Huang expressed her delight for coming to GDUFS. The main purpose of this visit, as she stated, was to discuss r cooperation issues concerning education at the postgraduate level, including graduate forum, workshop and lectures. She hoped that an agreement could be signed quickly to promote cooperation and communication.
Later on, FJU delegations engaged in counterpart exchange with respective faculties, observed classes and reached an initial content of visits between teachers, students exchange and cooperative seminars.
The delegation appreciated GDUFS’s advanced teaching and culture facilities after visiting the Japanese room, simultaneous interpretation laboratory and other facilities at North Campus.
On November 17th, the delegation paid a visit to the South Campus and talked with leaders and teachers from the School of English and Education.
