Vice-President Prof. Chen Yibing Visits British Universities

RUC Vice-President Prof. Chen Yibing, leading a delegation from RUC School of Education and Training, visited some British universities from Nov. 23rd to Dec. 1st, 2009, including University of Westminster, Queen Mary, University of London, City University London, Brunel University, University of Sussex, University of Warwick, and Royal Holloway, University of London.

On Nov. 23rd, the RUC Delegation visited University of Westminster. Prof. Chen Yibing met with Prof. Jean Woodall, Dean of Westminster Business School. Both sides discussed on cooperative programs and renewed a memorandum of cooperation. After the meeting, the delegation members met with the students of RUC School of Education and Training who joined the Westminster program in 2007, and sent their warm greetings to them.

On Nov. 24th, the RUC delegation visited Queen Mary, University of London. Mr. Pat Power, Head of International Office, Prof. Ron Giles, Director of Department of Economics, and Dr. Divien Easson of Department of Mathematical Sciences met with the delegation. Both sides reviewed the achievements of bilateral cooperation, and negotiated on further collaboration in economics and mathematics. The delegation also greeted some RUC students studying in Queen Mary for Bachelor degree.

In the same afternoon, the delegation visited City University London, and held a meeting with Prof. Saqib Jafarey, Head of Economics Department, discussing on the expansion of Master degree programs and candidates’ application requirements. Both sides reached a consensus on interview of students and enrollment time.

On Nov. 25th, the RUC delegation visited Brunel University. Prof. Ian Campbell, Vice-President of Brunel University, met with the delegation. Both sides exchanged views on collaborative programs. Accompanied by Mr. Oliver Goh, Senior International Official of Brunel, the delegation took a tour around the Brunel modern campus and learned about its scientific research achievement. They also met with RUC students studying in Brunel and sent them the warm greetings.

On Nov. 26th, the RUC delegation visited University of Sussex. Prof. Ian R Davidson, Dean of Department of Business, Management and Economics, welcomed the delegation and introduced the curriculum and faculty of business, administration and economics of Sussex. Both sides signed an agreement on future cooperation.

On Dec.1st, the RUC delegation visited Royal Holloway, University of London. Prof. Rob Kemp, President of Royal Holloway, warmly welcomed them and would like to promote the bilateral academic exchange and cooperation. Later the delegation greeted the RUC students studying at Royal Holloway.

This visit to British universities proved to be a successful one which has deepened mutual trust between RUC School of Education and Training and British universities, broadened win-win cooperation in international programs, expanded the fields of collaboration and improved the international image of RUC in UK.
