The “Tianjing” Self-Propelled Cutter Suction Dredger Completed the Navigation Test
On the eve of New Year’s Day, “Tianjing”self-propelled cutter suction dredger constructed by the Institute of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Design of School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering at SJTU set sail from Shenzhen Mazhou Island for its first trial voyage to conduct various tests on properties and equipments of the ship, including the running tests of host load, navigational speed, bow thruster, anchor casting, marine lifesaving, conn and telecom navigation, etc. and it successfully completed the trial voyage. All tests were completed on schedule with various performance indicators up to the requirements in the contact and dredgers operating performance up to the service requirements. The vessel belongs to CCCC Tianjin Dredging Co., LTD. and was constructed in CMIH
Large self-propelled cutter suction dredger is a kind of complex high-tech and high value-added engineering vessel. The vessel is all-steel welded with twin screws and twin rudders. The ship hull is of the molded lines suitable for self-propulsion. The cutter ladder is installed on the bow, the spud carrier on the stern. It is the first self-propelled cutter suction dredger designed and completed by the domestic institutes and companies. It can dig clay, dense sand, gravel soil, coral reefs and medium hard rock. From bow to stern, from main hull to upper deck, and even on the forecastle, there are a large number of special-purpose equipments. The complex special equipments for dredging made the general layout, molded lines and structure design more complicated than the ordinary transport ships. The successful trail voyage of the vessel filled the gap of domestic dredger design and construction, and designated the capability of the Instituteof Naval Architectureand Marine Engineering Design at SJTU to autonomously design the large self-propelled cutter suction dredger.
