China Finds Drug Target for Acute Leukemia
Chinese researchers have made new progress in molecular targeted therapy for acute leukemia. According to Shanghai Institute of Hematology in Rui Jin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and the Research on the Molecular Mechanism to treat Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL) with Arsenic Trioxide conducted by State Key Laboratory of Medical Genomics, oncoprotein PML-RAR is the drug target in the treatment of APL with arsenic.
Up to now, it has been clarified how the different targets in the same oncoprotein are treated in the therapy of “all-transretinoic acid (ATRA) + Arsenic Trioxide” put forward by the research group in Shanghai Institute of Hematology. The research findings will be released in the internationally authoritative journal “Science” today, and Shanghai Institute of Hematology held a press conference in Shanghai this morning.
