Professor Ma Ning Won Nomination Award of “Shanghai Top Ten Outstanding Overseas Chinese”

Transtlate The Congress of Shanghai Returned Overseas Chinese is held every five years and the 10th Congress was held on April 7, 2010 in the Friendship Hall of the Shanghai Exhibition Center. Professor Ma Ning from School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering of SJTU won the nomination award of Shanghai Top Ten Outstanding Overseas Chinese. Professor Wu Jianrong from School of Materials Science and Engineering won the honorable award of “Advanced Individual of Shanghai Overseas Chinese Federation”. At the opening ceremony, the leaders who conferred prizes to winners include Yu Zhengsheng, the member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the secretary of Shanghai municipal Party committee, Feng Guoqin, the chief of Shanghai People’s Political Consultative Committee, Qiao Wei, the deputy chief of National Overseas Chinese Federation, Yin Yicui, the deputy secretary of Shanghai municipal Party committee, Yang Xiaodu, the member of Shanghai municipal Party committee and the director of the United Front Department, Wu Youying, the deputy chief of National Overseas Chinese Federation, the deputy chief of Shanghai People’s Political Consultative Committee and the chief of Shanghai Overseas Chinese Federation, and Tang Dengjie, the deputy mayor of Shanghai, etc.
On behalf of the 9th Committee of Shanghai Overseas Chinese Federation, Wu Youying delivered a working report entitled “Making Contribution to Shanghai’s Construction of Four Centers by Uniting and Utilizing Overseas Chinese’s Knowledge and Strength”. Representatives of overseas Chinese of SJTU including Chen Gang, Zhu Baohua, He Lin, Xu Yuhong presented at the congress and Yang Yi, the director of the United Front Department of SJTU was also invited to the opening ceremony.
