Transtlate The Achievement Presentation of Experimental Courses offered by UM-SJTU Joint Institute to Students Majoring in Mechanical Attracted much Attention
On December 16, Vm495, the achievement presentation of experimental courses on mechanical of UM-SJTU Joint Institute attracted nearly 100 visitors both on and off campus, including over 30 teachers and academic supervisors from School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electronic, Information and Electrical Engineering, School of Medicine, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Graduate School of Education, Academic Affairs Office and Office of Laboratory Facilities Management of SJTU and East China Normal University, and Song Yunpeng, chief architect of Shanghai Aerospace Bureau and managers of five enterprises in charge of “Lujiazui”Talents Program. In the three opening hours, the eight seniors from UM-SJTU Joint Institute demonstrated their research programs in this course. “Innovative”, “good with hands”, “confident”, and “strong communication skills”are the most frequently used vocabularies when visitors evaluated.
The core of the course is to let students independently design and make a workable testing device. Students cooperatively completed the determination of the test content, analysis of the testing theory, design of the testing device, purchase and process of the parts and the final assembly and debugging. The whole program has not only the specific requirements, but also the deadline requirement, the sense of cost control and writing, speaking exercise. It is a core curriculum to train the comprehensive ability of students and Professor Joseph Pratt “the Outstanding Teacher of Shanghai Jiao Tong University”gave the lesson.
