Eight People Won Shanghai-Unilever Research and Development Fund

On December 17, the projects winning the 2009 Shanghai-Unilever Research and Development Fund were announced after examined by experts. The Program “Research on Preparation Technology and Application of the Special Paper with Wetting Property”done by Li Mei from SJTU has received the fund. Wang Wenjin and the other six students received the scholarship as financial aid which accounts for 35% of the total scholarship of this fund. Altogether eight programs this year got the financial aid, and altogether 20 students received the scholarship. Shanghai-Unilever Research and Development Fund was co-established by Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM) and Unilever N.V in 1998 and applied in financially aiding universities and research institutes in Shanghai to carry out the basic and applied research of mutual interests. It provides scholarship to postgraduates and research fellows. The main research fields of the fund are: research on the development and application of the natural products, research on the nervous system sensory function and cognition, research on cell differentiation and development, and research on biotechnology, etc.
