The 1st Chinese Recitation Contest for International Students, CTBU, launches successfully on 18th Dec.19 foreign students from 9 countries participated in the contest.
Before the commencement of the contest, Han Yan, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office expressed best wishes for the success of the event on behalf of the Office. According to the language proficiency, the contestants are divided into two groups ---intermediate level and beginners’ level. With the help and guidance of Chinese teachers, each contestant chose Chinese classic works and gave a wonderful delivery, which won warm applauses of the audience. The beginners still had some poor pronunciation, however, thinking that they only studied Chinese for three months and couldn’t even say a Chinese word at the beginning, everyone would cheer at their great improvement.
During the break, the international students presented some shows to the audience including Martial Arts, songs and dances and a short play, which brought a lot of fun and laughters.
Finally, Huang Enxi from Korea and Baihe from the Thailand won the first prize for each level. The success of the contest greatly encouraged all the international students and the unexpected performance of them moved the Chinese teachers who would take it the best reward for their hard work in the language teaching.
