Chen Zhu, Minister of Health Sent the Letter of Congratulations

On January 7, Wu Jianmin, Fellow of European Academy of Sciences and Vice President of European Academyof Sciences, in behalf of the Academy, conferred the certificate of Fellow of European Academy of Sciences to Professor Li Hongwei of the AffiliatedRuijinHospital, to give the commendation to his outstanding contribution in the field of surgery, hospital management and Sino-foreign exchange. Cai Wei, CPPCC Standing Committee Member and the Vice-Chairman of Shanghai CPPCC, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Chen Zhu, Minister of Health, sent the letter of congratulations.

In the letter of congratulations, Minister Chen Zhu extended his warm congratulations on Professor Li Hongwei being elected Fellow of European Academy of Sciences. In the letter, it said: during the 20 years as director of RuijinHospital, with the virtue of a great physician, you have dedicated yourself to the cause of health by healing the wounded and saving the dying. You have led the century-old hospital to grasp the historical opportunity of comprehensive development in the new era, which makes her full of vigor and vitality the same as your career. He sincerely hoped that Professor Li Hongwei’s spirit of being refined and educated could be carried forward by the young generation, and he also hoped that Professor Li would lead the Ruijin make new and greater contributions to the deepening reform of China’s medical-sanitary system.

Professor Li Hongwei, as tenured professor and advisor to director of Ruijin Hospital, associate director of Chinese Medical Association Surgery Branch, vice-chairman of Chinese Hospital Association Surgery Branch, consultant of Shanghai Deeping Reform of Medical and Health System, foreign corresponding fellow of French Academy of Surgery, foreign academician of American College of Surgeons, and honorary fellow of the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong. He once won “Knight of Honor”of the FrenchRepublic, the title of “National Outstanding Director”, and China’s best leader of hospital and lifetime achievement award. Taking up the occupation for nearly half a century, he has been the director for 20 years and he applied the decisive style and scientific mind to the hospital management, which gave RuijinHospitalan unprecedented development and progress. Professor Li Hongwei carried forward the cultural heritage, founded the hospital’s core values of “extensive charity and the pursuit of excellence”and integrated the academic research, management and humanistic spirit, which has laid a solid foundation for the sustainable development of RuijinHospital. EuropeanAcademyof Sciences and Arts is a non-political organization which is composed of professionals of the international highest levels, including over 60 Noble Prize winners.
